Bangkok police have launched a major investigation after a full-term baby was found frozen inside a hotel refrigerator. The nine-month-old female baby was stiff inside a black rubbish bag in the freezer. Her 21-year-old Thai mother initially reported a miscarriage, but police then found abortion pills in her room. She reportedly bought the medication online after becoming pregnant following an encounter with a Chinese man she met through a dating app. The woman told police the baby was dead after delivery and said she froze the body before arranging a cremation. However, forensic doctors must now answer the critical question. Was the baby already dead, or was she born alive before being placed inside the freezer? Police are awaiting the post-mortem findings before deciding on charges.
Bangkok police are probing the death of a full-term baby found frozen inside a hotel room refrigerator. The female baby was stuffed inside a black rubbish bag and placed in the freezer compartment. Police estimated the pregnancy at approximately nine months. However, they do not yet know whether the baby was alive when delivered.
The discovery has triggered a major forensic investigation at Hua Mak Police Station. Crucially, specialists must establish whether the baby died before or after delivery. They must also determine whether freezing caused or contributed to the death. Until then, police cannot establish exactly what happened inside the Bangkok hotel room.
The baby’s 21-year-old Thai mother contacted police on Monday night, September 29. She initially reported suffering a miscarriage at the hotel in Soi Ramkhamhaeng 40, Bang Kapi. Yet officers later found abortion medication hidden inside a dressing-table drawer. The woman reportedly admitted buying the pills online after discovering she was pregnant.

Notably, the woman told investigators the pregnancy followed a sexual encounter with a Chinese man. She reportedly found him through an online dating application. The pair subsequently met for sexual relations. Later, she discovered she was pregnant and decided to obtain abortion medication.
According to Thai reports, she purchased the medication through the LINE messaging application. Khaosod and Matichon reported that she ordered it on August 24. Six days later, she reportedly moved into the hotel on August 30. She would remain there until the case reached police.
The investigation began after Ms A, 21, contacted Hua Mak Police Station. Pol Lt Col Thuwanan Ngernyuang, an investigating officer, received her report. In response, police, forensic specialists and rescue workers were dispatched to the hotel.
Hua Mak Police Station Superintendent Pol Col Prasopchok Iamphinit attended the scene. Pol Lt Col Suwapon Ka-angkul, a patrol officer, also joined the operation. Meanwhile, Pol Lt Col Kittichok Lipthaisong led personnel from the station’s investigative unit.

As part of the response, forensic officers entered the room to collect evidence. A forensic pathologist from Police General Hospital was also called. In parallel, Poh Teck Tung Foundation rescue personnel arrived to assist police.
Officers found Ms A alone inside the hotel room. At first, they were responding to her report of a miscarriage. Their inspection of the refrigerator then produced the case’s most disturbing discovery.
Inside the freezer compartment was a black rubbish bag. Police opened it and discovered the body of a female baby. The body was already stiff and rigid when officers examined it. Moreover, investigators estimated the baby had reached approximately nine months’ gestation.
There were no visible wounds on the body. Police also reported no apparent signs of physical abuse during the initial examination. Even so, those observations could not establish the cause or timing of death.

Separately, investigators searched the hotel room for evidence surrounding the pregnancy. Inside a dressing-table drawer, they found a blister pack containing abortion medication. Officers seized the pack for examination. Thai reports subsequently identified the medication as Medabon.
Police then questioned Ms A about the pills. She reportedly admitted purchasing abortion medication online through LINE. According to Khaosod and Matichon, the order was placed on August 24.
The reported timeline then accelerated. Ms A reportedly took one tablet on September 5. The following day, she reportedly took another four tablets. Afterwards, she developed abdominal pain before delivering the baby inside the hotel room.
During questioning, Ms A also explained how the pregnancy began. She reportedly said she found a Chinese man through a dating application. The two then met for sexual relations. Subsequently, she discovered that she was pregnant.
Abortion pills found in hotel room as woman tells police she took five tablets before the delivery
Following that discovery, she decided to obtain abortion pills online. The medication eventually arrived and she reportedly took the tablets in early September. By then, police believe the pregnancy was at an advanced stage.
According to her account, the baby was dead following the delivery. That statement is now a critical part of the investigation. Nonetheless, forensic specialists have not confirmed that the baby was stillborn.
Nor have investigators established whether the baby survived the delivery. Instead, that question has been left to specialists at Police General Hospital. Their findings could determine the direction of the police investigation.
Ms A reportedly told officers she panicked after delivering the baby. She then placed the body inside a black rubbish bag. Afterwards, she put the bag into the freezer compartment of the refrigerator.
The body remained frozen there until police entered the room. Ms A reportedly said she wanted to preserve it before arranging a cremation. She intended to have the baby cremated according to religious rites, according to her account.

On another front, Ms A later sought medical attention outside the hotel. She reportedly travelled to a clinic on New Phetchaburi Road following the delivery. There, she underwent a medical examination.
Daily News reported that the examination found her to be in good health. Thereafter, she contacted police and disclosed the events inside the hotel room. Her initial report described what had happened as a miscarriage.
Once officers entered the room, the inquiry quickly widened. The baby was found inside the freezer. Additionally, police recovered the abortion medication from the dressing-table drawer.
Investigators then secured evidence while forensic personnel examined the room. The medication was collected for further examination. At the same time, attention turned to the baby’s body and the unanswered question surrounding its death.
Police removed the body from the hotel after completing their initial examination. It was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police General Hospital. There, specialists must establish exactly when and how the baby died.

First, forensic doctors must determine whether death occurred inside the womb. Alternatively, they must establish whether the baby was alive after delivery. That distinction sits at the heart of the case.
Furthermore, specialists must examine whether freezing temperatures played any role in the death. Police have not established that the baby was dead before being placed inside the freezer. Equally, they have not established that freezing caused the death.
For that reason, investigators are awaiting the post-mortem findings before reaching conclusions. The examination must determine the baby’s condition at delivery. It must also establish the precise cause and timing of death.
Another major element is the reported gestational age. Police initially estimated that the pregnancy had reached approximately nine months. Consequently, forensic specialists must establish the baby’s exact stage of development.
The medication timeline will also form part of the inquiry. Reports state that Ms A ordered the pills on August 24. She reportedly entered the hotel six days later. Then, she reportedly took the medication on September 5 and September 6.

Investigators must compare that chronology with the forensic findings. They also have the blister pack recovered from the room. In addition, they have Ms A’s account of purchasing and taking the medication.
Police also have her account of the delivery and events immediately afterwards. She maintains that the baby was dead following delivery. She also told investigators she froze the body because she wanted to preserve it.

Once those results arrive, police can reconstruct the final sequence inside the hotel room. Investigators will compare them with the medication, scene evidence and Ms A’s statement. The Hua Mak Police Station investigation remains underway.
