Furious Udon Thani man burns his mother’s motorcycle after she refuses his demand for a powerful Honda PCX. Mr Golf, 33, tries to fight the blaze with a hose, resists arrest and tests positive for drugs—yet says he still wants a new bike.
A furious Udon Thani man torched his mother’s motorcycle after she refused to buy him a powerful Honda PCX. Mr Preecha, 33, known as Golf, had drunk all night and admitted recent methamphetamine use. Police arrived as he battled the blaze with a garden hose before resisting arrest and testing positive for drugs. Officers then uncovered a May knife and methamphetamine case, while investigators prepared an arson-related charge. Yet after destroying his mother’s motorcycle, Mr Golf apologised—but insisted he still wanted a new one.
A 33-year-old Udon Thani man torched his mother’s motorcycle after she refused to buy him a more powerful Honda PCX. Minutes earlier, she had arrived carrying food after her son spent the night drinking. He later apologised but told police he still wanted a new motorcycle.
The bizarre family confrontation unfolded on September 24 at a house in Sai Thong Village. The property stands off the bypass road within Udon Thani Municipality. Mr Preecha, known as Golf, was staying there alone and looking after the property. Local sources said the house had been entrusted to him while being offered for sale.
Before the incident, Mr Golf had been drinking throughout the night and continued into the morning. The initial account also described him as hallucinating following alcohol and drug use. Then, around noon, his mother arrived with food and provisions.

Soon afterwards, the conversation turned to motorcycles. Mr Golf wanted something newer and more powerful. Specifically, he wanted a Honda PCX and asked his mother to buy one.
However, she refused. An argument followed before his mother eventually left the property. Yet Mr Golf remained furious after her departure.
He then damaged his mother’s motorcycle and deliberately set it alight outside the house. Fuel and rubber components helped the flames spread rapidly.
Moments later, Mr Golf grabbed a garden hose and attempted to extinguish the blaze himself. However, there was insufficient water to control it.
Meanwhile, Police Captain Thirayothin Sapsin was leading a patrol when officers received an emergency report. The caller reported a son going on a rampage and setting a motorcycle on fire.
Police Captain Thirayothin, deputy suppression inspector at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, immediately headed to the property. Disaster prevention officers and a Udon Thani Municipality fire engine also responded.
Firefighters save Udon Thani home as police arrest angry son after mother’s motorcycle is destroyed
When emergency crews arrived, Mr Golf was still using the garden hose. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the motorcycle was completely destroyed.
Police then moved to take Mr Golf into custody. However, he became agitated and refused to enter their vehicle.
Consequently, officers forced him inside and transported him to Mueang Udon Thani Police Station. During questioning, he admitted setting fire to his mother’s property.
Separately, Mr Golf admitted consuming yaba, or methamphetamine tablets, approximately three days earlier. Police therefore ordered a urine test.
The result was positive for drugs. Consequently, officers charged him with illegally consuming a Category 1 narcotic.
A background check then uncovered another recent case involving Mr Golf.
Earlier knife and methamphetamine arrest emerges as police prepare another charge over mother’s property
In May 2026, he was arrested for carrying a knife in a public place. Additionally, that case involved illegal consumption of methamphetamine, also classified as a Category 1 narcotic.
The September incident therefore brought Mr Golf another drugs charge only four months later.
On another front, investigators began preparing an arson-related charge concerning the destruction of another person’s property. Crucially, the motorcycle belonged to his mother.

Mr Golf’s comments following his arrest added a final twist to the case.
He apologised to his mother for what he had done. However, he had apparently not abandoned the demand which started their argument.
His message to her was blunt: “I’m sorry, Mum, but I still want a new motorcycle.”
