Wanted Burmese drug suspect Aung Zaw Min Khant is caught in luxury Bangkok digs over a ฿150m drug haul. He arrived openly from India five weeks before his warrant. Now, police are following a ฿10m trail of condos, a Lexus and luxury goods in Bangkok.

A major Burmese narcotics suspect wanted over a ฿150 million drug haul has been arrested at a luxury Bangkok condominium. Aung Zaw Min Khant is accused of directing an operation involving nearly five million meth pills, heroin and crystal methamphetamine. Yet immigration records reveal he flew openly into Thailand from India more than five weeks before Burma issued its arrest warrant. Now the case is widening dramatically. Police have uncovered another Rama IX condominium registered in his name, a Lexus, luxury watches and designer bags. More than ฿10 million in assets is already under scrutiny as Thailand’s Anti-Money Laundering Office follows the money and investigators search for further assets and financial connections in the kingdom.

A major Burmese narcotics suspect has been arrested inside a luxury Bangkok condominium after Thai investigators tracked him to Rama IX. Aung Zaw Min Khant is wanted over a huge narcotics shipment seized in Burma. The haul included almost five million methamphetamine pills and more than 12 kilogrammes of heroin. It was valued at approximately ฿150 million.

Yet the Bangkok arrest has opened another front. Police uncovered signs of significant wealth surrounding the wanted Burmese man. Investigators identified another luxury condominium, a Lexus, expensive watches and designer handbags. Assets already under examination are valued above ฿10 million. Now Thailand’s Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) is following the money.

Notably, Aung Zaw Min Khant was already in Thailand before Burma issued its arrest warrant. Immigration records show he arrived from India on December 31, 2025. He flew from New Delhi aboard Thai Airways flight TG324. The scheduled flight landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Aung Zaw Min Khant entered Thailand from India five weeks before Burmese court issued arrest warrant

Crucially, the Meiktila District Court did not issue its arrest warrant until February 9, 2026. By then, Aung Zaw Min Khant had spent more than five weeks in Thailand. He therefore entered Thailand before becoming wanted under that particular warrant.

There is also no indication that he slipped illegally across a remote border. Instead, he arrived openly at Thailand’s principal international airport. Immigration records show he entered aboard a commercial Thai Airways flight. His subsequent stay in Thailand was also authorised.

Specifically, he held permission to remain under a family category connected with a foreigner residing in Thailand. That immigration history later became important when investigators began reconstructing his movements. Eventually, the trail led directly to Bangkok’s Rama IX district.

On Sunday, October 4, Immigration Bureau officers moved against him. Investigators had established that Aung Zaw Min Khant was staying inside a luxury condominium. Officers entered the property and arrested him there.

Luxury Bangkok property, Lexus and designer goods open a ฿10 million asset trail after dramatic arrest

But the operation did not end at the condominium door. Investigators quickly uncovered another valuable property interest connected with the Burmese suspect. Documents showed another luxury Rama IX condominium registered under his name. That property was being rented to another person.

Separately, investigators identified a Lexus connected with Aung Zaw Min Khant. The luxury vehicle carried a registration plate acquired at auction. Police also identified expensive watches and designer handbags during their investigation.

Taken together, the assets immediately widened the scope of the Thai inquiry. Their combined value has been placed above ฿10 million. Investigators are now examining where the money came from. They are also searching for further property and financial interests.

As part of this, AMLO has joined the investigation. The agency is examining the financial trail behind assets linked with Aung Zaw Min Khant. Investigators are pursuing the origins of funds connected with those holdings. They are also examining whether additional assets exist.

On another front, the inquiry is widening towards other people. Investigators intend to examine individuals potentially connected with the suspect or his assets. However, nobody else has been identified as facing Thai criminal charges in the supplied information.

Thai and Burmese narcotics agencies joined forces before Immigration officers closed in on Rama IX

Likewise, investigators have not established that the Bangkok assets represent narcotics proceeds. That remains a matter for the financial investigation. No bank accounts or individual financial transactions have yet been disclosed. Neither have police revealed how the condominium registered to him was financed.

The arrest itself followed direct cooperation between Thai and Burmese agencies. Burmese anti-narcotics officers sought Thai assistance in locating Aung Zaw Min Khant. In response, Thailand’s Office of the Narcotics Control Board became involved. The ONCB then worked with Immigration Bureau investigators.

Police Lieutenant General Noppasin Poolsawat, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, directed the operation. In addition, Police Major General Thanit Thaiwatcharamat, a Deputy Immigration Commissioner, was involved. Police Major General Sarawut Khonyai, commander of the Immigration Investigation Division, helped direct the investigation.

Meanwhile, Police Col Chay Panakit was also named in the operation. He serves as superintendent and head of the investigation group. The arrest team included Police Lt Col Komen Wannaboworn and Police Capt Ekkawin Cheewamongkol.

Massive Burmese drug seizure included 4.98 million meth pills, heroin and crystal meth worth ฿150 million

Behind their Bangkok operation lies an enormous Burmese narcotics case. It centres on a mixed drug shipment intercepted at the Kyawe Tat Sone X-ray checkpoint. Officers discovered millions of methamphetamine tablets alongside heroin and crystal methamphetamine.

In total, Burmese officers seized approximately 4.98 million methamphetamine tablets. They also recovered 12.387 kilogrammes of heroin. Additionally, the shipment contained one kilogramme of crystal methamphetamine.

Burmese officials valued the entire narcotics haul at approximately 9.4 billion kyat. Thai reports put that figure at roughly ฿150 million. The sheer quantity subsequently triggered a wider investigation into people connected with the shipment.

During that investigation, Burmese anti-narcotics officers identified Aung Zaw Min Khant as a directing figure behind the operation. Reports have also described him as a high-ranking narcotics trafficker. However, that description is not established as a judicial finding.

What is established is the warrant. The Meiktila District Court issued arrest warrant No. 11/2026 on February 9. By that stage, however, its target was already in Thailand.

Immigration trail shows suspect flew openly from New Delhi before police traced him to luxury Bangkok life

The timing gives the case a clear international trail. On December 31, Aung Zaw Min Khant travelled from New Delhi to Bangkok. More than five weeks later, the Burmese court issued its warrant. Burmese investigators subsequently sought assistance from their Thai counterparts.

Thai investigators then began reconstructing his movements. Immigration records provided a direct starting point. Those records showed his Thai Airways arrival at Suvarnabhumi on New Year’s Eve. They also confirmed his permission to remain in the kingdom.

From there, investigators traced him to Rama IX. The district eventually produced both his arrest and evidence of substantial assets. Police found him inside one luxury condominium. They then uncovered documentation linking him to another.

More significantly, the second condominium was registered in his name. Police information indicates that it was also generating rental activity. That finding gave investigators another financial connection to examine.

Alongside the property came the Lexus. Its auctioned registration plate added another identifiable asset to the inquiry. Then came the watches and designer handbags. Together, the discoveries pushed the known asset figure beyond ฿10 million.

AMLO follows money behind Bangkok property and luxury assets as police separate wealth from drug haul

In parallel, investigators began looking beyond the property where the arrest occurred. Their attention shifted towards ownership, funding and other possible holdings. AMLO’s involvement has now placed the financial trail firmly inside the wider investigation.

Importantly, the ฿10 million asset figure is separate from the ฿150 million drug valuation. The larger figure concerns narcotics seized in Burma. The smaller figure concerns assets identified during the Thai investigation.

There is no report that 4.98 million methamphetamine tablets were discovered inside the Bangkok condominium. Nor were 12.387 kilogrammes of heroin reported there. The kilogramme of crystal methamphetamine was not found there either.

Instead, those drugs were seized at the Kyawe Tat Sone checkpoint in Burma. The Bangkok operation concerned locating Aung Zaw Min Khant under the Burmese warrant. What officers found around him then produced a separate financial trail.

At present, police have disclosed no individual valuation for the Lexus. They have also released no individual values for the watches or designer bags. Similarly, no purchase price has been disclosed for the condominium registered to Aung Zaw Min Khant.

Police put assets above ฿10 million as India arrival and Burmese warrant timeline comes into focus

Nevertheless, investigators place the overall identified asset value above ฿10 million. They are now looking for anything beyond that initial figure. The financial inquiry could therefore expand as records and ownership links are examined.

For Thai investigators, the case now has several moving parts. There is the Burmese warrant and the huge narcotics seizure behind it. There is also Aung Zaw Min Khant’s documented arrival from India. Finally, there is the growing asset investigation in Bangkok.

The India connection is particularly clear from immigration records. Aung Zaw Min Khant travelled aboard Thai Airways flight TG324 from New Delhi. He landed at Suvarnabhumi on December 31, 2025. At that moment, warrant No. 11/2026 did not exist.

Only on February 9 did the Meiktila District Court issue that warrant. Thus, his arrival cannot be described as flight from that particular warrant. Instead, the court action came after he was already living in Thailand.

His immigration status was also recorded rather than clandestine. He had permission to stay under a family-related category. Subsequently, investigators were able to use official records while tracking his presence in Thailand.

Second Bangkok condominium and luxury goods drive widening AMLO probe into suspect’s financial affairs

Once located, however, his Bangkok circumstances produced a second major line of inquiry. Police were not dealing only with a wanted foreign suspect occupying a room. They found evidence of another condominium registered in his name.

Moreover, that property was reportedly rented to somebody else. Investigators also had the Lexus, auctioned plate and luxury personal possessions to examine. Those findings pointed police towards a broader review of his finances.

AMLO is now examining the origins of money connected with the assets. At the same time, investigators are seeking additional holdings. They also plan to examine other individuals potentially connected with those financial interests.

Still, the available information does not establish that any identified asset came from drug trafficking. It does not identify a Thai narcotics offence committed by Aung Zaw Min Khant either. Those distinctions remain important as the investigation develops.

The Burmese allegations, by contrast, relate directly to the enormous checkpoint seizure. Nearly five million methamphetamine tablets formed the largest component. More than 12 kilogrammes of heroin were also recovered. One kilogramme of crystal methamphetamine completed the mixed shipment.

Burmese drug case and Bangkok wealth probe converge as police weigh next legal steps for wanted suspect

Burmese investigators accuse Aung Zaw Min Khant of operating at a directing level behind that shipment. Their inquiry eventually produced the February court warrant. Later, they asked Thailand to help locate him.

Thai agencies then closed in using his recorded movements. The ONCB and Immigration Bureau worked together during the operation. Investigators traced him to the luxury Rama IX condominium before officers moved in.

Since then, attention has increasingly turned towards the money. The second condominium provides investigators with a substantial property interest to examine. The Lexus provides another high-value asset. The watches and designer handbags add to that financial picture.

At the same time, the investigation reaches beyond tangible possessions. Investigators want to know where the funds originated. They are looking for additional assets and other connected people. AMLO is now pursuing that trail alongside the wider case.

Legal questions also remain over what happens next. Burma wants Aung Zaw Min Khant under its February 9 warrant. Its anti-narcotics officers specifically sought Thai assistance in finding him.

However, the supplied information does not state whether formal extradition proceedings will follow. It also does not confirm whether immigration procedures will instead be used. No separate Thai narcotics prosecution has been disclosed.

Three-country trail ends in luxury Bangkok arrest as AMLO widens probe into suspect’s ฿10 million assets

For now, the established chronology stretches across three countries. Aung Zaw Min Khant travelled from India into Thailand on December 31. Burma issued its arrest warrant more than five weeks later. Burmese investigators then enlisted Thai assistance to find him.

That hunt ended inside a luxury condominium in Bangkok. Yet the arrest immediately produced another investigation. Police uncovered a second condominium, a Lexus and expensive personal possessions.

Now the financial trail is taking centre stage. More than ฿10 million in identified assets is already under examination. Investigators are searching for more while AMLO scrutinises the origins of the money.

Status of Burma’s General Saw Chit Tu in Thailand may be a further issue in future US-Thai talks on security

The original narcotics case remains huge. It involves drugs valued at approximately ฿150 million and almost five million methamphetamine tablets. But the Bangkok investigation is now following a different trail as well.

Aung Zaw Min Khant entered Thailand openly from India before the Burmese warrant existed. He subsequently lived under an authorised immigration category. Police later found him amid signs of substantial wealth in Bangkok.

Now they are following that wealth. The property, luxury vehicle and expensive possessions are under scrutiny. Investigators are also examining possible financial connections around him. The arrest is complete, but the asset hunt is widening.
