Police sources suggest that pills and liquids have been found at the condominium owned by the 24-year-old prime suspect in the case, Rachadech Wongthabutr. A date rape theory is one that the police are believed to be exploring as sources suggest that what was found was a mixture of ‘date rape’ drugs. Police suspect that the young woman may have consumed such a substance before her death. They are also investigating a number of people at the party in Bang Bua Thong in Nonthaburi including the owner of the house who hired Ms Thitma as a hostess for the night on Monday evening for ฿3,000.

Thai police have suggested that the investigation into the death of a young woman found in the early hours of Tuesday morning will wrap up within the next 48 hours. Today, amidst intense speculation, police confirmed that no arrests have yet been made. Police Major General Samrit Tongtao gave the assurance speaking to media.

On Friday, Police Major General Samrit Tongtao of the Metropolitan Police Division 8 promised a conclusion of the police investigation in approximately 48 hours.

Thai police are close to concluding their investigation into the tragic and mysterious death of a commercial presenter who was hired on Monday night to act as the hostess at a party in Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi. The young woman died according to initial medical reports prepared for police from an acute heart attack.

On Thursday, a 24-year-old man named as Rachadech Wongthabutr was released by police after intense questioning as to how the young ‘pretty’ of sales model ended up dead on the lobby sofa of his condominium building in Thonburi.

CCTV footage has emerged showing the young man manoeuvring what appears to be the lifeless body of 25-year-old Thitima Noraphanpiphat through the corridors of the building and inside a lift eventually settling the young woman on a sofa in the lobby as he appeared to be in contact with someone on his smartphone.

Intense speculation on Friday of an arrest

On Friday, there as intense speculation that police may be close to seeking an arrest warrant in the case but Police Major General Samrit Tongtao, addressing the media, revealed that within 48 hours or so, police will be ready to give a full briefing on the mysterious death.

Police sources, however, have confirmed that one theory that is being actively pursued is that the young woman was given a date rape drug and there are also reports that pills and liquids were found in the condominium of the Mr Rachadech who is a prime suspect in the case.

Police enquiries have widened to Monday night’s party in Bang Bua Thong and regular such events

Police are also believed to be widening the investigation into a reported secret online chat group and the regular parties which were held at the home in Bang Bua Thong where Ms Thitma was employed on Monday night for ฿3,000 to serve and mix drinks for guests.

Owner of the party venue raises police suspicion as to his source of income – says he sold stocks

It is reported that the businessman who owns the home is being subject to a background check in addition to all witnesses involved in the incident. Police sources suggest that officers were dissatisfied with the homeowner’s explanation as to his line of business and income source. He told police that he made money through selling stocks and shares but police have reason to doubt this explanation.

Police have reported that 10 witnesses have been questioned and the police chief, Major General Samrit, has confirmed that police now have the statements as part of their investigation.

Police compiling their evidence to establish what happened to Thitma – waiting on an autopsy

Further evidence in the case includes DNA samples, CCTV footage and initial medical reports. The police are also waiting on a detailed autopsy report and the results from DNA testing. They are trying to ascertain if the young woman was engaged in some sexual activity before she died.

31-year-old boyfriend of the deceased women passes on evidence to Bukkhlalo police

It has also been revealed that the young woman’s boyfriend, 31-year-old Natthanai Homthianthong has handed in evidence of his own to Bukkhlalo police station which the man says should raise questions about the version of events being put forward by the main suspect in the case, Mr Rachadech. 

On Thursday, following his release, Mr Rachadech claimed that he was innocent of any wrongdoing and would be vindicated by the forensics including DNA testing.

Boyfriend says his evidence challenges the 24-year-old suspect’s version of events

The evidence submitted by Mr Natthanai is thought to comprise of photographs of his deceased girlfriend Ms Thitma as well as online messages. He could not reveal publicly the source of the material but claimed it was genuine and would assist police to bring charges against the man he believes is responsible for the death of his loved one.
