Police are piecing together the final hours of a 28-year-old Irish man after his body was found floating in a lagoon at an exclusive Phuket residential development, prompting a major forensic investigation involving CCTV analysis, witness interviews and evidence searches. Detectives have identified the victim as Scott John Revie Little but have yet to determine how he died, withholding key details about the scene while working with the Irish Embassy to notify his family and uncover the circumstances behind the unexplained death.
The body of a 28-year-old Irish man was found floating in a lagoon at a residential development in Phuket on Friday morning, triggering an immediate police investigation.
The grim discovery was reported at about 11 am after the body was spotted in the Laguna water reservoir in Moo 6 of Cherng Talay subdistrict, Thalang district.
Within minutes, officers from Cherng Talay Police Station arrived with forensic specialists, a medical examiner and rescue volunteers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation.
Rescue workers entered the water and recovered the body before investigators sealed off the area. Police later identified the deceased as Scott John Revie Little, a 28-year-old Irish national.

As the recovery ended, forensic officers began examining the scene in detail. Detectives photographed the area and recorded evidence. They also carried out an initial examination of the body. However, officers said the cause of death could not yet be determined.
In parallel, investigators launched a wide-ranging evidence search around the lagoon. They began collecting physical evidence from the scene. They also started reviewing CCTV recordings from nearby locations. Detectives hope the footage will help establish the victim’s final movements.
Separately, officers began interviewing witnesses who may have seen the Irish national before the discovery. Those statements will be compared with CCTV footage and forensic findings. Investigators are working to build a complete timeline before reaching any conclusions.
Notably, police have not disclosed whether the body showed visible injuries. They have also not revealed how long it had been in the water. Investigators have released no information about possible personal belongings recovered at the scene.

Meanwhile, authorities have withheld the name of the residential development where the body was found. They have also declined to identify the hospital responsible for the post-mortem examination. Officers said the investigation remains active while evidence continues to be assessed.
At the same time, police have not confirmed whether Mr Little was living in Phuket or visiting as a tourist. They have also not disclosed how long he had been in Thailand. Likewise, officers have not said whether he had been staying at the residential estate.
In response, detectives assigned investigators to continue gathering evidence throughout the day. Every available lead is being examined. Witness accounts, forensic results and security camera footage will all form part of the investigation.
On another front, Thai authorities contacted the Embassy of Ireland after confirming the victim’s identity. Embassy officials are now expected to notify Mr Little’s family. They will also assist with the formal process of repatriating the body to Ireland.

As part of this, police remained at the lagoon while forensic specialists completed their examination. Rescue personnel concluded recovery operations before investigators carried out further documentation of the scene.
So far, detectives have not indicated whether foul play is suspected. Instead, they said the investigation will continue until the evidence establishes how the Irish national died.

The lagoon lies within a residential development in Cherng Talay, an area known for several large bodies of water. Many originated as tin mining quarries during Phuket’s mining era. Over time, the abandoned pits filled naturally with water. Today, some have become reservoirs, while others form lagoons within residential developments across the island.
For now, investigators continue analysing forensic evidence, CCTV footage and witness statements. The cause of Scott John Revie Little’s death has not been established. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
