Bound, beaten and driven towards Myanmar, she escaped after alerting police at a Kamphaeng Phet checkpoint. Officers fired at the fleeing Nissan’s tyres, captured two men and found two others hiding inside a temple. Police suspect she was being transported towards Mae Sot for forced illegal work. One suspect reportedly received ฿10,000 for the collection. Meanwhile, investigators are hunting the organiser behind the operation. The Chinese Embassy confirmed her safety as disturbing video spread across China, reviving memories of actor Wang Xing’s 2025 trafficking ordeal.
Thai tourism chiefs are monitoring reaction in China after four Thai men allegedly abducted a young Chinese woman in Bangkok. Police rescued the 29-year-old victim in Kamphaeng Phet before the group reached Thailand’s border region with Myanmar.
Prompt police action may have contained some reputational damage from the case. Officers pursued the suspects, disabled their car and captured all four men. In parallel, the Chinese Embassy confirmed that the injured woman was safe.
However, video of her ordeal has spread alongside reports of the rescue. The footage showed facial injuries and cable ties still securing her hands. Other recordings captured the police operation and subsequent arrests.

The case follows the January 2025 abduction of Chinese actor Wang Xing. He travelled to Thailand after accepting what appeared to be a legitimate acting assignment. Instead, he was transported through Thailand and taken into Myanmar.
Wang’s disappearance triggered fury across Chinese social media. It also produced widespread concern about travel to Thailand. Against that background, Thai tourism planners are closely tracking Chinese reaction to the latest abduction.
Notably, this attempted transfer ended before the victim reached Tak province. A police checkpoint interrupted the journey in Mueang district, Kamphaeng Phet. Officers then completed four arrests following a pursuit and search operation.
Police have charged Somkiat, 41, Suchart, 41, Kittiporn, 24, and Kittisak, 22. All four come from Mae Sot or Phop Phra districts in Tak. Each district lies close to the Myanmar border.
The suspects face charges of jointly detaining and confining another person. They were also charged with jointly causing bodily harm. All four men have denied the accusations.
Separately, investigators are considering additional charges while collecting evidence. Police sought court permission to detain the suspects on August 25. The four remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.

The operation began when a black Nissan Teana approached a checkpoint in Kamphaeng Phet. The driver refused to stop and accelerated through the police position. In response, officers launched an immediate pursuit.
Police fired at the sedan’s tyres as it continued north. The woman was restrained inside the car with cable ties around her wrists. Her captors had also covered her head with a cloth.
By then, the victim had become aware of the checkpoint. She believed it offered her only opportunity to escape. Accordingly, she shouted for help as the vehicle approached the officers.
The driver accelerated away after her calls attracted attention. During the escape, the sedan slowed and its rear door opened. The woman was then pulled or pushed from the moving vehicle.
She landed heavily on the road and suffered further injuries. Even so, she managed to stand and run towards nearby residents. Members of the public sheltered her before police reached the scene.
Meanwhile, officers continued pursuing the black sedan. Their gunfire damaged its tyres and eventually forced the vehicle to stop. Two suspects were arrested near the car.

The remaining two men fled into nearby woodland. Police then searched the surrounding area and checked possible hiding places. Later, officers found both fugitives hiding inside a temple.

Afterwards, the woman received medical treatment and spoke with investigators. She described how a meeting during her flight preceded the abduction. Her account also identified several stages of the suspected deception.
The woman had planned to travel to Singapore. First, however, she intended to visit Thailand. During her flight, another woman began speaking with her.
That passenger claimed to have a Chinese friend living in Thailand. Moreover, she encouraged the traveller to meet that person after arriving. The visitor believed she had received a reliable local introduction.
Following her arrival, the woman checked into a Bangkok hotel. A black sedan later came to collect her from the property. She entered expecting to meet the recommended Chinese contact.

Soon afterwards, the car stopped again close to the hotel. Three additional men then entered the vehicle. At that moment, the woman realised she had been deceived.
She resisted and attempted to leave the sedan. Nevertheless, the men overpowered her and prevented her escape. According to her statement, they tied her hands using cable ties.
One man also struck her mouth with his elbow. As a result, she suffered visible injuries to her face and mouth. Her captors then covered her head with a cloth.
The sedan subsequently continued north from Bangkok. Its route carried the group through central Thailand and into Kamphaeng Phet. Throughout the journey, the woman remained restrained inside the vehicle.
Her opportunity came when the car approached the police checkpoint. She shouted loudly enough to alert the officers. Consequently, the driver’s attempt to escape triggered the pursuit.
The victim was removed from the moving car during the escape. Yet she reached nearby residents despite her injuries. Police then secured her while other officers pursued the suspects.
One arrested man reportedly admitted receiving ฿10,000 to collect the woman. Investigators are tracing that payment and seeking whoever supplied it. They are also examining who gave the men their instructions.

On another front, officers are checking how the sedan’s occupants found the Bangkok hotel. The suspects apparently knew where and when to collect the victim. Police are seeking anyone who provided her location or travel details.
The suspects’ home districts have reinforced the suspected border connection. Mae Sot stands directly beside Myanmar and serves as a major crossing point. Phop Phra is also located in Tak near the frontier.
For that reason, investigators suspect the operation extended beyond a domestic abduction. Police believe the men were taking the woman towards the Mae Sot border area. They suspect she could have been forced into illegal work.

Even so, police have not confirmed her intended final destination. They have not established that she would have crossed into Myanmar. Nor have they linked the suspects publicly with a named trafficking organisation.
The reported route remains significant because trafficking networks have moved victims through Thailand into Myanmar. Some victims have then been forced to work inside scam compounds. This history has sharpened Chinese attention towards travel through Thailand.
Wang Xing’s abduction remains the most prominent recent case. The Chinese actor accepted a fraudulent acting offer before travelling to Thailand in January 2025. He was then transported across Thailand and into Myanmar.
Thereafter, his disappearance provoked intense alarm in China. Social media users questioned the safety of travelling to Thailand. The case also placed Thailand’s tourism sector under renewed pressure.
The latest incident contains several comparable elements. Both Chinese visitors trusted arrangements which appeared legitimate. Wang believed he had secured acting work, while the woman trusted a contact suggested during her flight.

Similarly, both cases involved movement towards Myanmar through Thailand. The latest journey, however, ended at a checkpoint inside Kamphaeng Phet. Police intervened before the sedan could reach the border province.
The victim’s escape also produced immediate evidence of violence. Video showed her injuries and the cable ties fastened around her wrists. Thus, viewers could see her condition directly after the rescue.
At the same time, other footage documented the police response. Recordings showed the operation surrounding the fleeing car and the arrests. Chinese audiences therefore received images of both the crime and the police action.
The Chinese Embassy moved quickly once informed. It confirmed that the woman was a Chinese citizen and had been placed somewhere safe. Embassy representatives also maintained close contact with Thai investigators.
In addition, officials continued monitoring the woman’s condition and the criminal inquiry. The embassy’s intervention supplied Chinese audiences with an official account. It also confirmed direct cooperation with Thai police.
China Central Television carried the embassy’s statement prominently. Likewise, Xinhua, People’s Daily and Global Times reported the rescue. Their coverage said the woman was safe and assisting investigators.

Investigators can compare her testimony with communications, payments and vehicle movements. They can also examine events surrounding the flight and hotel collection. The reported ฿10,000 payment offers a further financial lead.
