A 23-year-old university graduate has been arrested in Khon Kaen for using sex appeal to lure punters onto illegal gambling websites. The young woman used revealing photographs, promises of explicit livestreams and private adult entertainment groups to attract customers.

However, police discovered that the advertised entertainment was a front for gambling promotions. Identified as Thantip, she admitted earning more than ฿20,000 monthly from the operation. She told investigators she had struggled to find an income after graduating.

For over two years, she promoted more than ten gambling websites through social media accounts reaching hundreds of thousands of followers.

Cyber police raid Khon Kaen dormitory after tracing gambling promotions to influencer social accounts

The arrest was announced on Saturday, November 7, by Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau Commissioner Police Lieutenant General Tinkorn Rangmat. Officers raided a dormitory room in central Khon Kaen after securing a court warrant.

They arrested the 23-year-old woman, originally from Ubon Ratchathani Province, and seized her mobile telephone. The raid followed an undercover investigation into online gambling advertisements disguised as adult entertainment promotions.

The investigation began after cybercrime officers discovered two Instagram accounts publishing sexually provocative photographs alongside gambling links. One account had attracted more than 230,000 followers.

In addition, connected Facebook and TikTok accounts reportedly had a combined following exceeding 640,000. Police found that the woman used her online popularity to promote illegal gambling websites. Her advertisements combined revealing photographs with invitations to private groups promising exclusive adult entertainment.

Investigators subsequently uncovered advertisements offering access to explicit livestreams and uncensored videos through a VIP membership scheme. Followers were encouraged to contact a LINE account advertising adult entertainment.

Undercover cops uncover ฿100 VIP adult entertainment offer directing subscribers to gambling sites

As part of the inquiry, undercover cybercrime officers joined the account to establish what customers received. They encountered automated messages displaying the woman’s profile photograph and samples of sexually explicit material. The messages promised access to uncensored videos and private adult livestreams.

Prospective members were charged ฿100 to join the exclusive group. Yet investigators discovered that the promised entertainment was not provided. Instead, subscribers were directed towards illegal online gambling websites.

Police said the adult entertainment offers were used to attract potential gambling customers. Notably, no livestream featuring the account owner took place as advertised. The supposed VIP entertainment service was therefore part of the gambling promotion scheme uncovered by investigators.

Officers traced the accounts to Thantip and established that she was living in Khon Kaen. Following further inquiries, investigators gathered evidence and applied for a search warrant. The Khon Kaen Provincial Court authorised the raid on her dormitory room. Police entered the premises on Thantawan Road in Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District. They arrested the young woman and seized one mobile telephone for examination.

Graduate admits promoting more than ten gambling websites over two years for over ฿20,000 a month

During initial questioning, Thantip admitted controlling the social media accounts. She also acknowledged promoting illegal gambling websites for more than two years.

According to police, the young woman explained that she had graduated without securing a regular income. Consequently, she began accepting paid online promotional work to support herself. Her activities included product reviews, livestream presenting and advertising for gambling operators.

The payments were relatively small. Thantip told investigators she received between ฿200 and ฿500 for each promotional story posted on an account. Nevertheless, the advertisements provided a regular source of income. She admitted promoting links connected to more than ten gambling websites during the previous two years. Her average monthly earnings exceeded ฿20,000, according to her statement to investigators.

Police have not disclosed her total earnings throughout that period. Nor have they identified her as an owner or operator of any gambling website. Instead, the investigation centres on her role in advertising illegal gambling services and attracting prospective customers. Her substantial online following provided access to large numbers of potential punters.

Instagram, Facebook and TikTok accounts funnel followers towards gambling through adult content offers

The promotional operation used several social media platforms. Instagram carried provocative photographs and gambling advertisements. Separately, Facebook and TikTok extended the woman’s online audience.

Followers interested in adult entertainment were encouraged to contact the LINE account. Once inside the private membership group, they encountered gambling promotions rather than the promised livestreams.

The scheme also involved a ฿100 VIP subscription charge. However, police have not disclosed how many people paid to join. Investigators have not established how many followers subsequently registered with gambling websites. The available police account also does not identify the operators receiving customers through the advertisements.

The arrest followed work by the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau’s Division 3. Police Lieutenant General Tinkorn Rangmat directed the operation alongside Deputy Commissioner Police Major General Arus Saengchan. Meanwhile, Division 3 Commander Police Major General Songklod Krikkritya supervised the investigation.

Cybercrime chiefs pursue gambling advertising charge as separate Shuffle.com investigation deepens

Police Colonel Adichat Amornpradit headed the Intelligence Analysis and Special Tools unit involved in the case. Police Captain Veerinth Panngao, an inspector with the same division, also participated. Investigators obtained the Khon Kaen Provincial Court warrant before entering the woman’s accommodation.

Police proceeded with a charge of assisting in advertising or directly or indirectly encouraging participation in gambling without official permission. The accusation concerns her promotion of unauthorised gambling websites through social media. Authorities have not announced separate charges concerning the adult entertainment advertisements.

The case comes amid another major cybercrime investigation involving the Shuffle.com online gambling network. That inquiry has brought scrutiny to Bhumjaithai Party MP Suchada Sangtanasap and her husband, Taiyang Zhang. Investigators have examined cryptocurrency transfers involving hundreds of millions of baht. The separate investigation concerns offshore gambling operations, financial transactions and ownership interests.

Small payments for gambling promotions contrast with hundreds of millions in Shuffle.com crypto transfers

On another front, the Khon Kaen case concerns a young woman receiving relatively modest payments to promote gambling platforms. Her reported earnings ranged from ฿200 to ฿500 per advertisement.

By comparison, the Shuffle.com inquiry involves cryptocurrency transactions worth hundreds of millions of baht. However, police have established no connection between the two investigations.

The cases nevertheless involve different activities within Thailand’s illegal online gambling industry. The Shuffle.com inquiry concerns substantial financial transactions and questions surrounding business ownership.

In contrast, Thantip’s case involves paid advertisements designed to attract customers through social media. Her role was promotional, according to the available police findings.

The young woman’s statement also detailed how she entered the business. After graduating, she had no regular income and began accepting online promotional assignments. She worked reviewing products and presenting livestreams. Subsequently, she also took payments from gambling websites seeking exposure through her social media accounts.

Years of gambling promotions, adult livestream offers and VIP subscriptions earn over ฿20,000 monthly

Over the following two years, she promoted more than ten gambling websites. The advertisements included revealing photographs, links to gambling platforms and invitations to private adult entertainment groups.

Her reported average monthly income exceeded ฿20,000. However, investigators have not disclosed how much came from gambling promotions compared with her other online activities.

The adult entertainment advertisements formed another part of the investigation. Police discovered messages promising exclusive livestreams and uncensored videos. Prospective subscribers were asked to pay ฿100 for VIP access. Instead of receiving the advertised entertainment, they were directed towards gambling websites.

Undercover officers established this arrangement by joining the LINE account themselves. They found automated messages containing the woman’s profile photograph and samples of explicit material. Furthermore, the account promoted access to uncensored videos through the private group. Police said the advertised livestreams featuring the woman did not take place.

Police reveal huge social media following but no customer totals or further arrests in gambling case

The investigation also established the size of her online audience. One Instagram account had more than 230,000 followers. In parallel, connected Facebook and TikTok accounts reportedly reached a combined following exceeding 640,000. These accounts provided the channels used to distribute gambling advertisements and adult entertainment promotions.

Despite those figures, police have not disclosed the number of customers generated through the advertisements. Investigators have also withheld the identities of the gambling operators involved. The available account identifies more than ten websites promoted by Thantip but provides no individual financial breakdown.

Authorities have not announced further arrests connected to her activities. Nor have they disclosed additional suspects linked to the VIP membership scheme. The investigation has established her ownership of the social media accounts and her admission to promoting gambling websites.

The 23-year-old now faces criminal proceedings following the Khon Kaen raid. Her mobile telephone was seized as evidence, while police documented the promotional activities uncovered during their investigation.

The case centres on a university graduate who entered paid gambling promotion after failing to secure regular employment. For more than two years, she used revealing photographs and adult entertainment offers to attract potential customers. Her reported return was just over ฿20,000 per month, with individual advertisements paying as little as ฿200.
