Lisa conquers another US milestone as “SaWaDiKa” hits Billboard No. 69, smashes 100 million YouTube views and carries Bangkok nightlife, tuk-tuks and Muay Thai onto Jimmy Fallon.
Thai superstar Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal has taken Thailand deeper into the American mainstream with her latest global hit. “SaWaDiKa” entered the United States Billboard Hot 100 at number 69 before Lisa joined Jimmy Fallon in New York on Wednesday. The provocative Bangkok-shot video smashed 70.8 million YouTube views in 24 hours and passed 100 million within two days. Meanwhile, its tuk-tuks, Muay Thai, neon nightlife and raunchy fashion present an unmistakably Thai backdrop to Lisa’s accelerating US career. Next come her new “PRESS PLAY” release, a worldwide documentary launch and four sold-out Las Vegas shows in November.

Thai superstar Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal stormed further into America on Wednesday night with Thailand riding alongside her. The 29-year-old appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in New York. Her visit came as “SaWaDiKa” smashed into the United States Billboard Hot 100 at number 69. Notably, Bangkok nightlife provides the backdrop to a provocative video already watched more than 100 million times.
The American breakthrough gives Lisa another major marker in a rapidly expanding solo career. “SaWaDiKa” became her seventh solo entry on America’s main singles chart. Crucially, it is her highest-charting solo release without another named performer. Her previous solo hit “Rockstar” reached number 70. This time, however, Lisa has pushed one place higher with a song explicitly built around Thailand.
At the same time, the video takes a raunchier route through the kingdom. There are no tropical beaches dominating the production. Temples are not its principal visual shorthand either. Instead, Bangkok after dark takes centre stage.
Bangkok nightlife, tuk-tuks and provocative fashion drive Lisa’s latest global music video sensation
Tuk-tuks, motorcycles, dancers, street lights and provocative costumes fill the screen. Alongside them come Muay Thai, Thai fabrics, traditional kites and older city streets.
From the outset, the production is loud, colourful and sexually charged. Lisa appears in revealing high-fashion outfits amid dancers and nighttime street scenes. Elsewhere, she wears a towering feathered showgirl headdress. Other costumes include a black feathered catsuit and futuristic bikini-style clothing. In another sequence, her outfit takes inspiration from an illuminated Bangkok tuk-tuk.
The women shown in the video have not been verified as portraying sex workers. Nevertheless, the production draws heavily on sexually charged imagery associated internationally with Bangkok nightlife. Scantily dressed dancers appear amid neon streets and provocative choreography. Tuk-tuks repeatedly share that visual landscape. Consequently, familiar images of Bangkok nightlife are pushed directly into an international pop production.
Yet the video also reaches deeply into traditional Thai imagery. Muay Thai is among its strongest recurring elements. Lisa wears red leather boxing shorts carrying the song’s title in rhinestones. Separately, another costume uses antique coins referencing traditional Thai dancers and craftsmanship. Chula kites also appear, while Thai textile influences run through the styling.
The result has travelled at extraordinary speed. “SaWaDiKa” recorded 70.8 million YouTube views during its first 24 hours after September 4. As a result, it became YouTube’s biggest first-day music-video launch so far in 2026. The figure more than doubled the 33.3 million opening-day views recorded by BTS for “SWIM”.
Lisa claims another YouTube record as SaWaDiKa races past 100 million views worldwide in two days
More significantly, Lisa became the first solo artist with two videos exceeding 70 million first-day YouTube views. Her 2021 solo debut “LALISA” remains marginally ahead with 73.6 million. Accordingly, Lisa now occupies both top positions for 24-hour YouTube music-video launches by solo artists. “LALISA” remains first, followed by “SaWaDiKa” with 70.8 million.
The surge did not stop there. Within roughly two days, “SaWaDiKa” crossed 100 million YouTube views. By then, the release had already established another huge global streaming launch. However, its subsequent Billboard Hot 100 debut delivered something different. The chart measures music consumption specifically inside the United States.
For that reason, number 69 carries particular weight for Lisa’s latest solo push. The Hot 100 combines American streams, sales and radio airplay. “SaWaDiKa” therefore registered inside the world’s largest music market. Better still for its Thai identity, the song achieved that result with a title derived from an everyday Thai greeting.
“SaWaDiKa” comes from “sawasdee ka”, the familiar greeting used by Thai women. Thus, Thailand is announced before viewers encounter the tuk-tuks, fighters or Bangkok streets. The international promotional campaign reinforced the message. Before release, “Hello (Sawasdee ka)” billboards appeared across several major cities. They included Bangkok, New York, Los Angeles and Mexico City.
On another front, the Billboard result expands Lisa’s already substantial American chart record. Her seven solo entries include “LALISA”, “Money”, “Rockstar”, “New Woman”, “Born Again”, “Priceless” and “SaWaDiKa”. “LALISA” reached number 84, while “Money” peaked at number 90. Later, “Rockstar” climbed to number 70.
Streaming drives Lisa’s latest US chart breakthrough before her first Tonight Show interview appearance
Lisa subsequently reached number 97 with “New Woman”, featuring Rosalía. Her Maroon 5 collaboration “Priceless” reached number 76. Meanwhile, “Born Again”, featuring Doja Cat and RAYE, climbed to number 68. It remains her highest-charting Hot 100 entry. Even so, “SaWaDiKa” now leads among Lisa tracks without another named performer.
There is another important detail behind those numbers. Available global chart figures show streaming overwhelmingly driving the release. One calculation attributed 185,000 of the track’s 194,000 points to streaming. By comparison, radio contributed only a small component. Hence, Lisa has secured another American chart breakthrough without equivalent mainstream radio penetration.
Against that backdrop, Wednesday brought Lisa directly onto one of America’s best-known late-night programmes. She joined Jimmy Fallon at Studio 6B inside New York’s 30 Rockefeller Centre. The programme was recorded before a live audience. Significantly, it marked Lisa’s first interview appearance as a guest on The Tonight Show.
Rather than leaving Thailand inside the music video, Lisa brought it onto the programme. She discussed “SaWaDiKa” and her forthcoming six-track “PRESS PLAY” project. She also promoted her November Las Vegas residency and “Always Lalisa” documentary. Above all, however, she explicitly connected the new music with her Thai roots.
“This EP is about my journey from my roots to where I am right now today,” Lisa told Fallon. She also said there were “a lot of Thai elements” throughout the project. In addition, she explained that the six songs have separate identities and moods. The tracks are designed to come together as a complete project.
“Every song has its own character and vibe and we bring them all together,” she said. “It’s like a movie. So you just press play.” “PRESS PLAY” is scheduled for release on October 23. Meanwhile, “SaWaDiKa” serves as its first single and its international opening shot.
Lisa teases her next single before bringing Thai food, drinks and language to American television
Lisa also gave Fallon a hint about her next move. The fourth track will become the next single. For now, however, she is keeping its complete title secret. She revealed only that the name begins with the letter “T”. Therefore, another release is already lined up behind the current global campaign.
Moments later, the Thai showcase moved from music to food. Lisa introduced Fallon to som tam, Thailand’s spicy green papaya salad. Dried shrimp and chilli formed part of the exchange. Afterwards, she demonstrated a drink combining Korean soju, Thai beer and Sprite. Finally, Lisa introduced Fallon to the Thai drinking expression “mot kaew”, meaning to finish the glass.
In effect, Lisa used a major American television appearance to keep Thailand running through the entire promotion. The song title is Thai. Its video was shot across Bangkok. Its imagery mixes nightlife with traditional culture. Then, during the Fallon interview, Thai food and language joined the presentation.
The locations used in “SaWaDiKa” sharpen that connection further. Production moved through identifiable parts of Bangkok rather than relying solely on studio sets. Rong Mueang Road near Hua Lamphong railway station appears prominently. So does Soi Chaloem Khet 1. Elsewhere, sequences feature Soi Ngam Duphli and the contemporary Dib Bangkok art museum.
Bangkok streets, tuk-tuks and Muay Thai become the defining visual language of Lisa’s new music video
Hua Lamphong itself provides another instantly recognisable Bangkok setting. Beyond that, ordinary streets repeatedly carry the action. Tuk-tuks move from public transport into major visual props. Motorcycles, headlights, road signs and street lighting add to the nighttime atmosphere. In turn, high fashion and artificial lighting transform familiar locations into pop-video sets.
No object receives more attention than the tuk-tuk. Lisa even references the vehicle directly in the song. One lyric describes “doing donuts in a Tuk-Tuk”. Visually, the vehicles repeatedly surround her throughout the nighttime sequences. Moreover, one futuristic costume takes inspiration from their distinctive shape and colourful lighting.
Muay Thai receives equally direct treatment. Boxing imagery is incorporated into Lisa’s clothing rather than sitting quietly in the background. Red leather shorts carry “SaWaDiKa” in rhinestones. As part of this, fighting culture becomes fashion imagery inside a global pop production. It also gives overseas viewers another immediately recognisable Thai reference.
Traditional culture appears elsewhere. Chula kites feature in the production, while Thai fabric influences appear in costumes. Antique coins provide inspiration for another outfit. In contrast, futuristic materials and revealing designs give those references a contemporary setting. Old Bangkok streets provide another sharp counterpoint to the styling.
Taken together, the production presents multiple faces of Bangkok within minutes. There are older neighbourhoods and modern architecture. There are traditional kites and neon tuk-tuks. Muay Thai shorts sit alongside high-fashion costumes. Meanwhile, provocative dancers and nightlife imagery supply much of the video’s energy.
Lisa’s tourism role gains fresh momentum as SaWaDiKa locations become official Bangkok visitor routes
That exposure carries additional weight because Lisa now officially promotes Thai tourism. She became the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Amazing Thailand Ambassador in January. The “Feel All the Feelings” campaign was launched at Wat Arun in Bangkok. Officials said it would present Thailand through Lisa’s perspective. They also sought to connect traditional heritage with contemporary creativity.
Since then, the numbers surrounding that campaign have grown sharply. On Tuesday, one day before the Fallon appearance, tourism officials released fresh figures. They reported more than 448 million media impressions. Additionally, the campaign generated 89.4 million advertising video views. More than 464 million media engagements were also reported.
In financial terms, the Tourism Authority valued the campaign’s public relations exposure at over ฿567 million. Those figures were released while “SaWaDiKa” was generating another burst of international attention. In parallel, tourism officials moved quickly to exploit the music video’s Bangkok locations.
Routes connected with places appearing in “SaWaDiKa” are already being promoted to visitors. Predictably, tuk-tuks play a major part. The Tourism Authority’s Bangkok office developed a one-day route covering four locations associated with the video. Thus, streets used for Lisa’s production have already become part of official visitor promotion.
Lisa returns to Las Vegas after SaWaDiKa as her expanding American career moves beyond music alone
This is not Lisa’s first use of Bangkok as a global music-video set. “Rockstar” prominently featured Yaowarat Road in Chinatown. This time, though, “SaWaDiKa” spreads its attention across more locations and cultural references. Bangkok is no longer merely scenery. Its transport, fighting culture, fashion, streets and nightlife are embedded throughout the production.
Her American push is also about to accelerate. In November, Lisa returns for “VIVA LA LISA” in Las Vegas. Four shows are scheduled at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Performances will take place on November 13, 14, 27 and 28. Notably, Lisa will become the first K-pop artist to stage a Las Vegas residency at the venue.
Reports said all four performances sold out. Some reports placed the sellout time at only ten minutes. During Wednesday’s interview, Lisa said rehearsals had not yet started. Nonetheless, she expected preparations to begin shortly. The residency therefore provides another major American marker after her latest Billboard entry.
Her United States expansion now reaches far beyond singles and concerts. “Always Lalisa” is scheduled for worldwide theatrical and IMAX release on October 12. Subsequently, the documentary is expected to become available through YouTube Premium. Lisa has also expanded into acting, making her debut in HBO’s “The White Lotus”.
World Cup appearance adds to Lisa’s global rise as SaWaDiKa puts Thailand firmly at centre stage
Separately, she performed with Anitta and Rema at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony. That made Lisa the first Thai artist to perform at the tournament’s opening ceremony. She also became the first female K-pop artist to achieve the distinction. Her international profile now stretches across music, television, cinema, acting and live performance.
Still, “SaWaDiKa” turns the spotlight decisively towards Thailand. Lisa originally built much of her global fame through Blackpink and the K-pop industry. Her latest solo campaign is different. Thailand is not simply listed as her birthplace. Instead, it supplies the song title, locations, vehicles, clothes, sport, language and visual identity.
The first-day YouTube figures demonstrated the enormous scale of Lisa’s existing global audience. Then came 100 million views within roughly two days. After that, Billboard provided the critical American marker. “SaWaDiKa” entered the Hot 100 at number 69 and became her seventh solo entry.
At the same time, the video delivered a striking image of Bangkok to those viewers. Tuk-tuks race through nighttime streets. Muay Thai becomes high fashion. Traditional kites appear amid neon lighting. Revealing costumes and provocative choreography provide a raunchier edge. Yet Thai cultural references remain visible throughout.
Lisa brings her Thai-centred campaign to Jimmy Fallon as SaWaDiKa powers another American breakthrough
Finally, Wednesday night brought the entire campaign into Rockefeller Centre. Lisa sat opposite Jimmy Fallon while “SaWaDiKa” registered inside America’s main singles market. She spoke about her Thai roots and the new project. She served Thai food and introduced a Thai drinking expression. Meanwhile, Las Vegas and another single were already waiting.
The next dates are fixed. “Always Lalisa” reaches cinemas on October 12. “PRESS PLAY” follows on October 23. Then Lisa heads for Caesars Palace in November.

For now, the hard numbers tell the story. “SaWaDiKa” pulled 70.8 million YouTube views within 24 hours. It passed 100 million roughly two days later. Furthermore, it became Lisa’s highest-charting solo Hot 100 release without another named artist.
This time, however, Bangkok came with her. Its tuk-tuks, Muay Thai, nightlife and provocative imagery dominate the screen. On Wednesday night, Lisa carried that unmistakably Thai campaign straight onto Jimmy Fallon in New York.
