Snooker great Worawit “Tek Hua Hin” Suriyasriwan, 59, dies after a truck slams into his motorcycle and drags him up to half a kilometre through Bangkok. The driver escapes, leaving him dead on the road, as police race to trace the vehicle using CCTV.
Thai snooker star Worawit “Tek Hua Hin” Suriyasriwan was killed when a truck struck his motorcycle and dragged him up to 500 metres through Bangkok. The driver fled, leaving the 59-year-old dead on Kanchanaphisek Road shortly after his final telephone call to his wife. Police are now racing to identify the truck through CCTV footage, while Siriraj Hospital prepares to conduct an autopsy.

A famous Thai snooker player was killed after a truck smashed into his motorcycle on a Bangkok road. The vehicle then dragged Worawit Suriyasriwan for between 400 and 500 metres. Instead of stopping, the driver sped away and left the 59-year-old dead on the carriageway. Police are now urgently hunting the truck through CCTV footage.
Mr Worawit was widely known in snooker circles as “Tek Hua Hin”. His final journey ended outside Thanakhom Village on Kanchanaphisek Road. The collision occurred at 3.40 am on August 22, 2026. Notably, the crash site lies in Lak Song subdistrict of Bang Khae district.
Police Lieutenant Chettha Thraprayaprapha received the emergency report at Phetkasem Police Station. He serves as a deputy investigator at the station. The report described a truck striking a motorcycle and killing its rider. Crucially, it also stated that the truck driver had fled.

In response, Police Lieutenant Chettha raced to the scene with senior officers. Police Colonel Pramote Chanbunkaew, Superintendent of Phetkasem Police Station, joined the operation. Police Lieutenant Colonel Bunyarak Thonginsee also attended. He is the station’s Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police.
At the same time, Ruam Katanyu Foundation volunteers were sent to Kanchanaphisek Road. Police and rescue workers found Mr Worawit lying face down. His body had suffered horrific injuries during the impact and dragging. There was no chance of saving him.
Nearby, officers discovered his grey and black Honda Wave 100 motorcycle. The bike carried a Prachuap Khiri Khan registration plate. It belonged to Mr Worawit and remained on the road outside the village. Police later formally identified him as the celebrated snooker player.
At the scene, Mr Worawit was wearing a blue and white short-sleeved sports shirt. He also wore black shorts. However, his clothing had been ripped apart as the truck dragged him down the road. His head and body had suffered devastating injuries.
Initial findings showed that the truck carried him between 400 and 500 metres. The distance covered a long section of road outside Thanakhom Village. Yet the driver failed to stop after the deadly impact. The vehicle instead continued away from the area.

As a result, investigators launched an urgent search for the truck and its driver. Officers began examining the road and gathering evidence from the surrounding area. Traffic police inspected Mr Worawit’s motorcycle and the path where his body was dragged. They also started reconstructing the sequence before the collision.
Separately, police traced Mr Worawit’s movements during his final day. He lived in an apartment on Phetkasem Road. Earlier, he left home by motorcycle during the afternoon of August 21. He rode to a snooker hall near Thanakhom Village.
There, Mr Worawit met friends and played snooker. The gathering placed him close to the location of the later collision. Subsequently, he travelled with a friend to a party near the area. They went to the gathering by car.
Importantly, Mr Worawit left his Honda Wave at the snooker hall. He remained at the party before preparing to return for the motorcycle. Before leaving, he spoke with his wife by telephone. A friend then drove him back to the snooker hall.
Afterwards, Mr Worawit collected his motorcycle and began riding away. He approached the exit from Thanakhom Village during the early hours. As he rode out, the truck struck his motorcycle on Kanchanaphisek Road. The impact threw him down and trapped him beneath the moving vehicle.
CCTV footage becomes central to hunt after fleeing truck left snooker player dead on a Bangkok road
From there, the truck dragged Mr Worawit for up to half a kilometre. His clothes tore as his body was pulled along the road. Eventually, he was left face down on the carriageway with fatal injuries. The driver continued onwards without waiting for emergency workers.
By then, Mr Worawit’s motorcycle had been left behind near the village. The grey and black machine became a key part of the crash scene. His body lay hundreds of metres away following the dragging. The distance showed the brutal scale of the collision.
In parallel, police examined the road for information about the fleeing vehicle. Officers focused on the truck’s movements before and after it struck Mr Worawit. They also sought to establish its direction after leaving the scene. Nevertheless, the initial bulletin provided no description of the truck.
No make, model or colour was publicly identified. Likewise, police released no registration number for the vehicle. The driver’s name and whereabouts also remained unknown. Consequently, CCTV footage became central to the investigation.
As part of this, officers began gathering recordings from around Thanakhom Village. They also sought footage from cameras positioned along Kanchanaphisek Road. These recordings could show the truck approaching the village exit. They could also capture it escaping after the fatal impact.
Police map truck’s escape route as urgent CCTV hunt targets driver who fled the fatal Bangkok collision
On another front, police are mapping the truck’s possible route through Bang Khae district. Cameras near the crash scene may reveal its registration plate. Additional footage could establish its colour, size and direction of travel. Together, those recordings may lead officers to the driver.
Meanwhile, investigators are examining the precise circumstances surrounding the initial collision. They know Mr Worawit was riding from the village exit. They also know the truck struck him and dragged him hundreds of metres. Even so, police have not released further details about the impact.
No arrest was reported following the initial investigation. Nor had officers publicly identified a suspect. Furthermore, the bulletin did not specify which charges the driver could face. Police said the driver would be tracked down for legal prosecution.
For now, the CCTV search remains the centre of the police operation. Officers are urgently reviewing recordings from the surrounding streets. They want to identify the truck and follow its escape route. Once found, the vehicle could provide further evidence about the collision.
Beyond that, investigators have established a detailed account of Mr Worawit’s final movements. His day began at his apartment on Phetkasem Road. He then rode to the snooker hall near Thanakhom Village. Later, he joined friends at the nearby party.
Final telephone call and hospital autopsy form key parts of police probe into snooker player’s road death
Before his departure, Mr Worawit made the telephone call to his wife. His friend returned him by car to the snooker hall. He then recovered his Honda Wave and started his journey. Soon afterwards, the truck struck him outside the village.
Following the crash, police secured the scene and completed an initial examination. Ruam Katanyu Foundation volunteers then received instructions to remove Mr Worawit’s body. They transported him from Kanchanaphisek Road to Siriraj Hospital. Medical staff will conduct a formal autopsy there.

In addition, the post-mortem examination will document the full extent of his injuries. It will also establish the precise medical cause of death. Police will use those findings during their investigation. The hospital examination follows the initial work completed at the roadside.
Ultimately, Phetkasem Police Station is leading the hunt for the fleeing driver. Its officers are checking CCTV footage and tracing the truck’s movements. The vehicle remained missing after leaving Mr Worawit dead on the road. The driver also remained at large.
Mr Worawit’s final afternoon was spent playing the sport that made him famous. Hours later, “Tek Hua Hin” was dead on Kanchanaphisek Road. His motorcycle lay near Thanakhom Village, while his body was found hundreds of metres away. Police are now racing to find the truck driver who fled the fatal scene.
