Detectives are examining CCTV footage as the killers remain at large, with no arrests or murder weapon recovered.

Two motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead a 31-year-old man outside a Bangkok cannabis shop early on Friday, October 16. The attackers fired more than ten shots before speeding away, leaving their victim bleeding outside the premises.
Five bullets struck his body as friends scrambled inside the shop for cover. Despite 30 minutes of emergency treatment, he died at the scene. In a further development, two patrolling police officers pursued suspicious men riding a similar motorcycle but lost them. Police are now examining CCTV footage to identify the killers, who remain at large.
The shooting occurred shortly before 1 am in Bangkok’s Lak Si district, near the entrance to Community 329. The cannabis shop occupies a unit in a row of two-storey commercial buildings in the Thung Song Hong area. Trees and plants surround the premises, where the victim was found unconscious following the attack. His friends had fled inside when the gunfire began.
Police and emergency crews rush to Lak Si cannabis shop after gunfire leaves 31-year-old man dying
Police Lieutenant Phanuvat Eiamyangyuen, deputy investigation inspector at Thung Song Hong Police Station, received the emergency report at approximately 1 am. The caller reported a seriously injured man outside the shop. In response, police dispatched officers, emergency medical personnel and forensic investigators. Rescue volunteers also rushed to the location.
The operation involved Police Lieutenant Colonel Bandhit Thamchaimongkol, deputy superintendent responsible for patrol operations at Thung Song Hong Police Station.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Pakpong Fonglao, deputy superintendent responsible for investigations, also attended. Separately, investigators from Metropolitan Police Division 2 joined local detectives. Officers immediately began securing the area and questioning those present.
Emergency personnel from Bangkok’s Erawan Emergency Medical Service were among the first responders. In addition, forensic specialists and a medical examiner from Chulabhorn Hospital attended. Volunteers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation also assisted. Their immediate priority was treating the victim, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Rescuers found the man lying unconscious on his back outside the cannabis shop. He was wearing a T-shirt and long trousers. Police subsequently identified him as Wirun, aged 31, although his surname was withheld in initial reports. An examination revealed five gunshot wounds across his body.
Five gunshot wounds kill Wirun as police examine his motorcycle and evidence outside the cannabis shop
One bullet had struck his left wrist, while another had hit his right thigh. Further wounds were identified in his torso and abdomen. The fifth injury was located beneath his left ribcage. Notably, witnesses reported more than ten shots during the attack. However, the initial medical examination identified five separate gunshot wounds.
Paramedics immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation in an attempt to restore Wirun’s pulse. Despite approximately 30 minutes of emergency treatment, he failed to respond. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. Police then turned their attention to the surrounding evidence and the movements of the attackers.
Investigators discovered a table containing cannabis-smoking equipment near the victim’s body. Across the road, approximately five metres away, officers located a blue off-road motorcycle belonging to Wirun. The vehicle had no registration plates. As part of their examination, police inspected the motorcycle and documented items around the shopfront.
Attention then shifted to the victim’s movements during the three hours before the shooting. Detectives questioned Nat, aged 30, a friend who regularly met Wirun at the cannabis shop. According to Nat, Wirun was a familiar visitor who frequently socialised with friends outside the premises. He had arrived earlier that evening on his blue motorcycle.
Two men on a white Honda Click fire more than ten shots as friends flee inside a Bangkok cannabis shop
Wirun reached the shop at approximately 10 pm on Thursday, October 15. He subsequently joined friends gathered outside. Another group of acquaintances was sitting about 30 metres away. Throughout the evening, he moved between the two groups. Nat said nothing unusual occurred during his first journey between the gatherings.
However, the situation changed when Wirun walked towards the cannabis shop for a second time. Two men suddenly approached on a white Honda Click motorcycle. The motorcycle stopped directly outside the premises. One or both attackers then opened fire on Wirun, who was returning towards his friends.
More than ten shots rang out as the victim was struck repeatedly. Those nearby immediately fled, seeking shelter inside the cannabis shop. Meanwhile, Wirun collapsed outside the building. The attackers then escaped on their motorcycle, leaving him unconscious near the entrance. The gunfire had stopped before his friends emerged.
When they returned outside, they found Wirun lying in a pool of blood. Police and emergency medical services were contacted immediately. However, the gunmen had already disappeared. Rescuers subsequently spent approximately half an hour attempting to revive the wounded man. Their efforts failed, and he was pronounced dead outside the premises.
Victim’s friend knows of no disputes as patrol officers chase suspicious riders on a white motorcycle
Nat provided detectives with a detailed account of the shooting and the attackers’ arrival. He said he did not recognise either man on the white Honda Click. Furthermore, he knew of no previous dispute involving Wirun. He could not identify anyone who might have wanted to attack his friend.
The witness also described Wirun’s regular visits to the shop. According to his account, the victim frequently met friends there and knew the surrounding area. He had spent the evening moving between two nearby gatherings. The shooting occurred during his second return towards the cannabis shop.
In another development, two Thung Song Hong patrol officers reported encountering suspicious motorcycle riders nearby. The officers were conducting routine crime prevention patrols along Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road. During their patrol, they noticed two young men travelling together on a white Honda Click motorcycle. The vehicle matched the general description supplied by witnesses.
The officers also recalled details of the riders’ helmets. The driver wore a full-face motorcycle helmet, while his passenger wore a half-face helmet. Their behaviour aroused suspicion, prompting the officers to follow them. However, the men accelerated away before police could intercept the motorcycle.
Motorcycle riders escape towards Vibhavadi Rangsit Road as detectives search CCTV for the attackers
The riders subsequently headed towards the outbound carriageway of Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. Despite attempting to pursue them, the patrol officers failed to catch up. The motorcycle disappeared, leaving police without a confirmed identification. Crucially, investigators have not established whether these riders were responsible for Wirun’s killing.
Nevertheless, the encounter has provided detectives with another possible lead. Investigators are examining the officers’ account alongside testimony from witnesses at the cannabis shop. In parallel, they are reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding streets and commercial premises. The objective is to identify the motorcycle and reconstruct its movements.
The white Honda Click features prominently in both accounts. Witnesses described two attackers arriving on such a motorcycle before the shooting. Similarly, patrol officers reported pursuing two suspicious men riding a vehicle of the same model. However, no confirmed registration number emerged from the initial reports.
Police are also examining the reported escape route towards Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. Surveillance recordings may help establish where the motorcycle travelled after leaving the area. Additionally, footage from nearby premises could provide clearer images of the riders. Neither suspect has been publicly identified.
Police investigate firearms and possible motive after deadly shooting outside Lak Si cannabis shop
Another unanswered question concerns the number of firearms used during the attack. Witnesses reported more than ten shots, but police have not established whether one or both attackers fired. Likewise, the exact number of rounds discharged remains unconfirmed. Initial reports also provided no confirmed details about the calibre or type of weapon.
Forensic investigators examined the area where Wirun collapsed and documented the surrounding evidence. The victim’s motorcycle remained parked across the road, approximately five metres from his body. Officers also recorded the table containing cannabis-smoking equipment near the shopfront. These findings formed part of the initial scene examination.
Although the killing occurred outside a cannabis shop, investigators have not established any cannabis-related motive. Police have also reported no evidence implicating the shop’s operators. The premises were the location of the shooting, but the reason for the attack remains unknown. Detectives are continuing to examine witness accounts and available evidence.
Nat’s testimony has provided a timeline of the victim’s final hours. Wirun arrived at approximately 10 pm and spent the evening socialising. He moved between two groups of friends separated by about 30 metres. During his second walk towards the shop, two motorcycle riders approached and opened fire.
Bangkok police hunt motorcycle gunmen after fatal shooting as CCTV and witness enquiries continue
The attackers escaped immediately after the shooting. Meanwhile, those sheltering inside emerged to discover Wirun unconscious and bleeding. Emergency responders arrived following the police report at approximately 1 am. Despite prolonged resuscitation, the 31-year-old could not be saved.
The investigation is being conducted by Thung Song Hong Police Station, assisted by Metropolitan Police Division 2. Officers are collecting witness testimony, reviewing CCTV recordings and examining forensic evidence. Their immediate objective is identifying the motorcycle riders and determining who fired the shots. Detectives must also establish the motive behind the killing.
As of the initial reports on Friday, October 16, no arrests had been announced. Police had not publicly identified either attacker or confirmed recovering a firearm. Moreover, investigators had not established any previous confrontation involving the victim. His friend Nat maintained that he knew of no existing dispute.
The reported police pursuit has added another element to the investigation. Two officers encountered men riding a white Honda Click near the shooting location. The driver and passenger wore different types of helmets. However, both escaped when officers attempted to follow them towards Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.
Investigators seek proof linking fleeing motorcycle riders to gunmen as suspects remain at large
Investigators have not confirmed that the fleeing riders were the gunmen. Nevertheless, their description and the motorcycle model are being examined alongside the eyewitness accounts. Police are seeking surveillance recordings that could establish the movements of both riders. Any identification would need to be supported by further evidence.
The attack left Wirun dead outside a shop he regularly visited with friends. More than ten shots were reportedly fired, with five gunshot wounds identified during the initial medical examination. His friends survived after rushing inside the premises. Meanwhile, the attackers escaped before police reached the scene.
